Introduction to the Canvas

Welcome to the Emvide Canvas, the main user interface where you build process maps to develop lifecycle analyses and product carbon footprints. In this section, we’ll guide you through the basics of the Canvas interface and how to use it effectively.

Using the Canvas Effectively

The Canvas is your workspace for building and visualising lifecycle assessments. By mastering the use of resource and process nodes, and understanding how to navigate and save your work, you can create detailed and accurate LCAs quickly and efficiently. Watch the embedded videos for a comprehensive guide on using the Canvas and start building your sustainability analyses today.

In this video, we cover:

  • Navigating the Canvas: Zoom in and out using your mouse and move around by holding the left mouse button.

  • Dragging and Dropping Nodes: Add resource and process nodes by dragging them onto the Canvas.

  • Connecting Nodes: Link different types of nodes by holding down the Shift key and drawing arrows between them.

  • Deleting Nodes: Remove nodes by selecting them and pressing the delete key.

  • Saving Your Work: Always click save to ensure your work is not lost.

Watch the video to see these steps in action and get started with building your process maps.

Intro to the Resource Node

Once you have set up the basic layout of your process map on the Canvas, the next step is to add detailed information to your resource nodes.

In this video, we explore:

  • Accessing the Resource Wizard: Hold down the Control key and click on a resource node to open the wizard.

  • Adding Resource Information: Choose a data source from options like EcoInvent or manual entry. EcoInvent provides premium environmental indicators.

  • Creating New Resources: Input custom data, including unit of measurement and impact factor.

  • Saving Resource Data: Once the information is added, click save to incorporate it into the Canvas.

This video provides a step-by-step guide to adding detailed data to your resource nodes, helping you build accurate and comprehensive LCAs.

Intro to the Process Node

The final step in using the Canvas is to detail your process nodes, ensuring all emissions and environmental impacts are accurately recorded.

In this video, we cover:

  • Accessing the Process Wizard: Click on a process node to open the wizard.

  • Naming and Describing Processes: Provide a name and description for each process.

  • Allocating Emissions: Assign emissions to processes using assets, facilities, or direct emissions profiles.

  • Advanced Options: Allocate emissions to co-products or waste streams for more detailed analysis.

  • Saving Process Data: Ensure all emissions and data are saved by clicking the save button.

This video walks you through the detailed setup of process nodes, crucial for accurate lifecycle assessments.

Ensure you watch each video to understand the functionality and best practices for using the Canvas. If you need further assistance, refer to the next sections or contact our support team.
